SOL: six years from diagnosis (Minn. Stat. § 541.05, subd. 1(5)) Courts: Hennepin County District Court (Minneapolis), Ramsey County District Court (St. Paul) Minnesota's personal-injury limitation period is six years (Minn. Stat. § 541.05, subd. 1(5)); a claim pleaded as strict products liability carries four years (§ 541.05, subd. 2). Minn. Stat. § 541.051 does NOT govern an asbestos disease claim — it is the construction statute for damage from an improvement to real property, and its own subdivisions exclude equipment and machinery manufacturers and maintenance-and-operation claims against owners. When the period starts is set by case law: for an asbestos death, Minnesota measures accrual from the manifestation of the fatal disease causally linked to asbestos, or the date of death, whichever is earlier (DeCosse v. Armstrong Cork Co., 319 N.W.2d 45 (Minn. 1982)). A wrongful-death action must be commenced within three years of the death AND within six years after the claim accrued (§ 573.02, subd. 1) — in Palmer v. Walker Jamar Co., 945 N.W.2d 844 (Minn. 2020) a claim filed inside three years of death was barred because it fell outside the six-year limit. Deadlines turn on the facts; confirm yours with counsel.
